Leather Care

FULL GRAIN LEATHER
Full grain leather is the strongest and most durable available and is six times stronger than buffed, upholstery, or 'genuine leather'.

It is real leather and the unique texture and natural imperfections from the cow's life have not been sanded, cut or shaved off.

Rather than wearing out, full grain leather will naturally condition with use, developing a much sought-after patina and unique character over time.

More common 'genuine leather' products available from large department stores have been stripped down and rebuilt with resins, waxes, and chemicals to make all 100,000 look identical.

Your full grain items will be stunning when you use them for the first time, and only increase in beauty every day, becoming something you will treasure for a lifetime.

PROTECT YOUR LEATHER
1. The leather has been oiled and conditioned imbuing it with natural water repelling properties.

With use, your product will condition itself from the inside out, developing a beautiful patina and unique character over time.

2. The tanning process has already treated your leather product and most scratches & scuffs accrued in the first few months of use will easily rub out or disappear with time. Seriously, it will amaze you!

3. After many months (or years) of use, the natural oils in the leather will begin to dry. Now is the time to use a leather conditioner!

Always test any conditioner on a small, inconspicuous part of your leather item. Please note that conditioning with oil or an oil based product will darken the color of your leather, so proceed with caution.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Is my new leather already conditioned?

The majority of our leather items are full grain leather and will not need to be conditioned for six months to a year.

Why are there markings on my leather?
As leather is a natural material, there may be some of Nature's Beauty marks left on the hide from the cow's life. Things like bug bites, fence scrapes, or stretch marks are on all hides to some degree. These marks simply make leather all the more beautiful and unique.

Can I use my bag in the rain?
While we do not recommend you carrying your bag in heavy rain, a light sprinkle won't affect the look or longevity of your bag. Just be sure to pat it dry when you get inside for precautionary measures.
